1st - Declan Connelly - €48,389

Declan Connelly will be crowned our 2013 D4 Events European Deepstack Champion after defeating Jimmy De Barros in a short heads up battle up. Coming into todays play 2nd in chips he ended up managing to maintain a level head & after a few topsy turvy swings in fortunes he was on the good side of it when it mattered. Catching him on the stream yesterday we had Tom Kitt note that he wasn't really going to step out of line and would play a straight up solid game, in 2010 he final tabled the Irish Open and since then has a nice few entries on his Hendon Mob and this will certainly be a nice addition.

Ok folks that's it we are done & dusted here at the D4 Events European Deepstack Championship, we kicked off on Thursday by the time registration closed 9 levels later we had 454 entrants, starting off into Day 2 with 296 players and of those our 9th place finisher Marc MacDonnell would be our overnight tournament chipleader. Ten levels were scheduled for play towards the end of it we were rapidly approaching the money bubble but just missed out on bursting it so it would onto  Day 3 before we finally got to it, Noel O Brien would end up finishing Day 2 as chipleader after being one of the last people to register and not even turning up until the start of play, 45 players would make some return on their investment but we still had 48 players and 3 of those were just going to miss out, Florian Herve Bulliard was the player to bubble the money when he was eventually knocked out by final tabilist Matthieu Duran when his AJ couldn't get there against JJ with that all players were guaranteed a minimun of €950. Day 3 saw us play down to our final table of 9 players Bridget Chaney would just miss out on that most coveted spot on a final table. Onto the final days action Jimmy De Barros come in with nearly a 2/1 chip leader, Marc MacDonnell would get off to a great start when doubling through Jimmy De Barros bust a couple of hands where he had people dominated and a flip or two would see him exit off the final table after being one of 3 people (Dara O Kearney & Raf De Wever) to make two European Deepstack final tables quite the accomplishment.

The blog took a back seat one/two of the days as I made my live stream debut doing most of the commentary for the weekend, cheers to all the people who swung by for the weekend to give their input on the action. Cheers to everybody that tuned into the coverage and participated in the chat box.

We Have a Winner

Declan Connelly will be our 2013 D4 Events European Deepstack Champion after beating the final days chipleader Jimmy De Barros in a short heads up play.

De Barros from Luxembourg was the chipleader for a good portion of the day and absolutely bossed it at times only lost the lead a couple times throughout the day, as we got to heads up play he just held onto a slight lead by a couple of hundred thousands as the stacks were pretty much even at 11,000,000 a piece.

Couple of swings in heads up play with Connelly getting a double up with KK vs AQ & De Barros retaken the lead another crucial hand were De Barros could of ended it he held J9 on a Jack high board but the Irish man managed to get there on the turn when he paired his Queen onto our final hand De Barros found himself trailing while holding KsJs vs Connellys AhKd as the board ran out 7c2h6h7s8d one time chipleader would find himself finishing in 2nd place.

2nd - Jimmy De Barros - €33,000

3rd - David Jansen - €23,500

David Jansen was our 3rd place finisher, having nearly been knocked out a few minutes previous by Declan Connelly holding Ah10h vs Ad10s hearts were freerolling the board as it fell 9h8c3h but Jansen managed to fade the draw after it went brick brick!

Onto his exit hand it was he was up against Connelly once again this time on the bad side of it as he held 5c5d & was crushed by KhKd board running out 10d2h9d8hAd

The chat box on the live stream was blowing up as he had a big contingent on the virtual rail from back home in Belgium.

4th - Roland Gradert - €17,000

Roland Gradert will be our 4th place finisher, losing a big flip the hand previous his exit he called Declan Connellys all in with Ah10c vs Kd6h when his opponent flopped an 6 it left him very short on circa 700,000

David Jansen opens to 340,000 with Gradert moving all in behind but he gets a quick call by JsJd while holding Ad4s needing to hit an Ace it wasn't to be for the Swede as the board ran out QcKc6h2s6s

5th - Raf De Wever - €13,400

Raf De Wever who was one of the 3 people to have made two European Deepstack final table has busted in 5th position after moving all in for 1,700,000 with Ac7c got the call from Roland Gradert with As5s

Dealer spreading a JhKsJs flop he it Gradert pretty hard as he was drawing tot he nut flush as we went onto the turn it fell 8s and it locked up the hand and we were losing another player as an inconseuential 5c hit the river.

6th - Matthieu Duran - €10,475

Matthieu Duran finishes in 6th place after shoving the button with JcJh with Roland Gradert in the BB called with Ad9d

Gradert flopped pretty well as it the flop came 9s9h2s with Duran sitting in his seat shaking his head, turn Ac & river As

7th - Gaeten Lheureux - €7,600

Gaeten Lheureux will be our 7th place finished been very close in chips to David Jansen we had to have countdown of the stack Jansen had him covered.

Lheureux shoving from the CO with 6c7d he ran into Jansens AsKc in the button, 3h9h2h was spread he picked up a couple extra outs when 10d peeled off on the turn but a brick 5d and it was curtains.

8th - Pat Smyth - €5,725

Pat Smyth will be our 8th place finsiher, hadn't been involved in much of the action so far but all in pre flop with AsKh vs JdJc of Jimmy De Barros for 2,200,000

Board running out 7d4h2s8sQs with that win now he will be just shy of 10,000,000 and a commanding chipleader.

9th - Marc MacDonnell - €4,300

Marc MacDonnell will be the first player eliminated from our feature table, after an early double up things just turned bad for him. Instead of having 4-5,000,000 chipstack he was left with a little over 600,000

First hand that took the chunk of his stack Jimmy De Barros opens the action with MacDonnell repoping it when Raf De Wever moving all in for 1,625,000 quick call as he held KK vs AQ flopping top set things were looking good as but there was a 10 on the board blank on the turn so the only card left in the deck was any of the remaining Jacks and that's what binked on the river, hand to knock him down open with 66 got shoved on from David Jasen for just shy of 1,000,000 chips 66 vs AdKd as the dealer spread the flop of diamond/diamond it was another sweat and when we go to the river he once again had to sit there in dismay as he got rivered again.

Onto his exit hand it was a blind on blind battle between himself & Jimmy De Barros who set him all in, MacDonnell sat back in his seat milling the hand through his head and probably knew that De Barros was going to be putting the pressure on with a wide range of hands.

De Barros - Ks4d

MacDonnell - Kh8h

He was out in front as the cards went on their back but this time it was De Barros who was going to flop a 4 just as he had done so himself earlier as the flop fell As4h8h bottom pair vs flush draw but it was brick brick turn/river as the board ran out 9cQc to send him to the rails, really would of made for an exciting table if he had a bunch of chips to play with.

Early Double Up

Just like his start to yesterday's play Marc MacDonnell has managed an early double up after coming from behind, tournament chipleader Jimmy De Barros opens to the button for 105,000 & MacDonnell out of the SB moved all in for 1,440,000 quick think about the action and it's called.

De Barros - Ah9d

MacDonnell - As4s

As the dealer spread the flop 5d8s4c it was bottom pair and snatching the lead in the process, when the turn fell 3s it was one of De Barros outs taken away as he could no longer hit the 9s he had two outs in the deck to hit but as the rivered peeled Jh it was the first major hit De Barros had taken to his stack that we have observed.

Shuffle Up & Deal

Blinds restart at 30,000/60,000/8,000 with 34 minutes left in the level our final nine players line up.
